The unemployment rate is not great either. Over the entire state there is a problem with few jobs being available that will pay any kind of good money. This is the biggest problem that people complain about in the state.
The real estate market is slow in the state. Overall the prices are low but there are not a lot of quality homes on the market right now.
New home sales are down for the fourth straight year as the construction industry takes another big hit. It is not hard to find a new home in the state as several new developments have sprang up but expect to pay a premium for them as the interest rates are a little elevated right now.
Existing home sales are steady across the state and the prices have stayed to the moderate side. New lenders have moved to make it easier for the first time buyer to find a home in the state with a minimum of hassle.
