In days past Louisiana was the place to be for everyone traveling the country or looking for a new home. Sadly, the devastation that was brought by the hurricanes has left the state in ruins as residents struggle to rebuild what is left of the once great area. While it was known for the Cajun style and overall good cheer that came with the area, the new motto seems to be sadness as people move away in hopes of regaining a new life in the new areas. The over flow of help that has been pouring in only scratches the surface of what needs to be done. In the wake of the hurricane destruction there has been more than enough finger pointing among the government officials as people from all over say that more could have been done to prevent such a tragedy. Few would disagree that there was some less than smart decisions made during the hurricanes but what is done is done.
The economy for the state has hit rock bottom as most of the major industries and employers suffered major losses. This has worked to devastate the economy as few jobs are available to the many residents looking to rebuild.
Right now the cost of living is high. Even though the act of price gouging is illegal, it still happens and people are struggling to find decent prices on even the most basic of items. The help that is coming in has made some headway in lowering prices.
The real estate market seems to be non-existent across the state at this point as more people try to rebuild. The new home market has taken the biggest brunt of the tragedy and there are very few new homes that can be found anywhere. Even when you do find one there is little chance that anyone of normal budget could afford it.
The existing home market is even worse as the amount of devastation was far reaching. The selling of homes is the last thing on peoples minds right now. People look to find the basic necessities of life in the state and that does not include buying a home.
